Chrissa McFarlane is a WSLab Alum – she graduated with the female founders of B9. Chrissa is an entrepreneur with a passion for improving the healthcare industry by creating cutting-edge technology. She is also the Founder and CEO of Patientory. We had the chance to interview Chrissa about her and her startup.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am an entrepreneur with a passion for improving the healthcare industry by creating cutting-edge technology.
What exactly is Patientory?
Patientory is a blockchain enabled heath data repository that allows patients to gain access to their health information.
What inspired you to start Patientory?
After working for digital health startups I witnessed and experienced that constant lack of access to data in the health industry and was inspired to go out and make a change.
What was the most valuable thing you got from your Accelerator experience? What was the most surprising?
Connecting with a group of strong and creative women, some of who I now consider my best friends.
How did you come up with the name?
After 6 weeks of brainstorming, I came up with Patientory and it stuck.
What was it like for you to start your own company?
It is definitely a challenge and up hill battle, however it’s very fulfilling when you see all the pieces of the puzzle come together.
What does a typical day look like for you?
In the gym at 6AM, then get ready to go in the office for 9AM. From there I have meetings with my team and potential customers until 5:30PM.
What is your favorite part about running Patientory?
The amazing and creative people I get to meet around the world.
What is your least favorite part about running Patientory?
Being away from family for long periods of time due to travel, however, it comes with the territory in building a global company.
How do you spread the word about your company?
Marketing, we have a large social media following.
Is there anything on the rise for Patientory?
Our Inaugural Blockchain in Healthcare Summit in Atlanta, GA on May 31, 2018.
How do you keep yourself feeling confident?
Through the support of my mentors and advisors.
How do you balance your work life and your personal life?
Always pencil in time to spend with my loved ones and cherished friends. They know me the best and keep me balanced.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a woman who wants to start her own company?
Start with a plan and go EXECUTE!
Is there anything else that you would like to share with us? Like a fun fact or a favorite quote?
I always loved this quote growing up, no matter how cliché it sounded: “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
